Stolen Vehicle Recovered and Suspect Arrested
On the evening of September 5th, our night shift officers responded to an alert from Flock cameras at Home Depot regarding a stolen license plate spotted on a white van pulling into the parking lot off of East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE.
After getting the Flock alert, officers responded and began checking the nearby area finding the vehicle in the Fred Meyer parking lot. Officers quickly coordinated and safely pinned the vehicle, which was unoccupied at the time. A VIN check confirmed the van was reported stolen.
While securing the scene, officers observed a male acting suspiciously near the Fred Meyer entrance. When approached, the individual fled into the store. Officers gave chase and safely detained him behind the store. The male initially provided false name but was later positively identified.
Evidence inside the stolen vehicle, including an insurance card and a driver’s license, further connected the individual to the crime. The registered owner of the van gave consent for a search, leading to additional evidence.
The suspect, a 36-year-old man from Sequim, was arrested and transported to the Issaquah City Jail where he was booked for Obstruction of a Law Enforcement Officer, Possession of Stolen Property in the 3rd degree, Making False Statements to a Public Servant, and Vehicle Trespass
Thanks to quick coordination, strong teamwork, and effective use of technology, this stolen vehicle was safely recovered and a suspect is now in custody.
