Shannon “Boo” Jackson, an Omaha native, has spent nearly a decade giving back to her community through her work as a barber. In 2019, she opened Omaha’s first Black, woman-owned barbershop, Heavi Hitters, which has now expanded to a new location offering everything from haircuts to makeup, wigs, locs, and tattoos. With a sisterhood at its core, the shop not only transforms appearances but uplifts spirits—proving that beauty and community go hand in hand.

On Oct. 15th we will be CELEBRATING the many contributions that immigrants provide to our community and uplifting many of their stories through our Hispanic Heritage Month Awards 2025. We will also be supporting various immigrant owned businesses such as catering by D'eli Catering a buffet featuring birria, mole, fajitas, salsas, tortillas, and all the sides, followed by mini conchas for dessert provided by Lily’s Pan Dulce, combined with some coffee from Coffee Alley-Callejon del Cafe. Plus, some Latin beats by the amazing DJ Jakee!
