THE JUNETEENTH STEAMPUNK TEA PARTY, PRESENTED BY House of Afros, Capes & Curls, RETURNS JUNE 13TH - 14TH

ABOUT
The Juneteenth SteamPunk Tea Party, presented by House of Afros, Capes & Curls, returns June 13th - 14th, celebrating Black imagination, creativity, and innovation. This year’s theme, Timekeepers of Timbuktu, features free, family-friendly events, local and national artists, and a VIP dinner and grand ball that explores African scholarship, innovation, and storytelling!

WHAT TO EXPECT
The celebration begins June 13th with the Juneteenth STEAM-Punk Freedom Lab & Family Day, featuring hands-on activities exploring creativity, science, and storytelling. Later that evening, adults 21+ can enjoy the SteamPunk Vaudeville Show + Vendor Market with artists, handcrafted goods, and the first chapter of the Timekeepers story.

On June 14th, the fun continues with the VIP Soirée and Dinner featuring a three-course meal by Chef Djamil Bah-Traore of House of Bah, followed by the Grand Steampunk Ball with live music, dancing, immersive storytelling, portraits, and a costume parade!

TICKETS
A ticket is required for the VIP Soirée and Dinner and Grand Steampunk Ball and can be purchased on Eventbrite (link in their bio!)

HEAD TO The Capitol District BASEBALL BASE JUNE 9TH - 13TH FOR WATCH PARTIES, FOOD, AND FAMILY FUN

ABOUT
If you’re just heading into town for the College World Series or looking for something fun to do, head to the Capitol District for their Baseball Bash. This free event features five days of family-friendly fun, including watch parties, games, food, and entertainment. The festivities run June 9th - 13th from 12:00 PM - 7:00 PM daily, with various sports, including World Cup matches, playing on the giant outdoor screen throughout the day!

WHAT TO EXPECT
This event is fun for the whole family! Kick back and watch the game while the kids enjoy the Kid Zone featuring inflatables and a water station. There will also be food and drink specials throughout the district, plus a local makers market in the plaza. Be sure to check out the full watch party schedule and vendor lineup on the Capitol District website!

LOCATION & HOURS

Once a parking lot, this space has been transformed into a vibrant garden featuring over 80 trees and 22,000 plants, blending native and national species. It’s designed to bring the Omaha community together, liven up Downtown, and help people reconnect with nature. The best part, it’s completely free to visit!

MORE INFORMATION
Owned and operated by Laurtizen Gardens, this beautiful space began as a project by Polina and Bob Schlott, who wanted to showcase their love of nature and passion for naturalistic garden design. Leading landscape design firm Field Operations partnered with Dutch landscape designer Piet Oudolf to bring this garden to life for the community!

Polina Gardens is now open in the Old Market at 727 S 13th St. You can stop by now through October 31st, Wednesday - Monday, from 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM!

EXPLORE THE PREHISTORIC WORLD WITH “DINOSAURS AROUND THE WORLD,” Lauritzen Gardens NEWEST EXHIBIT, OPEN NOW THROUGH SEPTEMBER 7TH

ABOUT
Step back in time with “Dinosaurs Around the World,” a traveling exhibition transforming Lauritzen Gardens into a prehistoric world filled with life-sized animatronic dinosaurs, interactive experiences, and educational opportunities that will captivate visitors of all ages. Families can grab a passport and explore Pangea like never before. This exhibit is on display now through September 7th, giving you plenty of time to experience the wonder of the prehistoric world!

WHAT TO EXPECT
This exhibit is perfect for families, explorers, and lifelong learners, blending education with adventure. Guests can get up close and learn about dozens on dinosaurs, like the mighty T. rex of North America, Spinosaurus of Africa, and the duck-billed Hadrosaur of Antarctica. The exhibition also dives into the geologic time scale, giving you an inside look at shifting continents and ancient climates!

This exhibit is included with paid garden admission and is free for garden members. Advanced tickets can be purchased online at laurtizengardens.org.

“Dinosuars Around the World” is Lauritzen Gardens (100 Bancroft St.) next exhibit, now open through September 7th. This exhibit is included with garden admission and is on display Monday - Tuesday from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM and Wednesday - Sunday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM!

CELEBRATE ITALIAN CULTURE, FOOD, AND TRADITION AT THE Santa Lucia Festival Omaha, NE IN LITTLE ITALY, JUNE 4TH - 7TH

ABOUT
Celebrate culture, community, and Italian heritage at the Santa Lucia Festival happening in Little Italy June 4th - 7th! Founded in 1925, Grazia Bonafede Caniglia recreated the Carlentini Santa Lucia Festival in Omaha to help Italian immigrants stay connected to their roots and traditions. Over the years, it has grown into one of Omaha’s favorite cultural festivals filled with incredible food, live music, dancing, and family-friendly fun!

WHAT TO EXPECT
Spend the weekend enjoying delicious Italian food, drinks, live music, and street dancing throughout the festival. Guests can participate in the bocce ball tournament and cannoli-eating championship, plus visit the Genealogy Room to learn more about their family history and Italian heritage. This free, family-friendly festival also features a kid zone packed with activities for kids to enjoy!

PARKING
There are no designated parking lots for the festival, but guests can park throughout the neighborhood. Friendly volunteers will be offering golf cart rides along select routes to help transport guests to the festival.

The Santa Lucia Festival takes place at 10th & William Street in Little Italy June 4th - 7th. Check out the full schedule of events on their website at santaluciafestival.com.
