The Pinay Mom in Nebraska USA

The Pinay Mom in Nebraska USA Hello and Welcome! I’m Gladys, an immigrant from the Philippines. I’m here to share my journey as a Widow Mom raising two teenage daughters in the midwest.

I’m happy to have you here❤️ I’m a proud Filipina, a mom, a working mom, and now, a widow finding my way through a new chapter of life. My journey is one of love, faith, family, and resilience — balancing work, motherhood, and healing while living far from home. Through this page, I share pieces of my life — my experiences as a mom, the beauty and challenges of living in Nebraska, and my reflectio

ns as I navigate grief and growth. I hope my story can bring comfort, inspiration, and connection to others walking their own paths of love and loss. Thank you for being here and sharing this journey with me.

Losing my husband taught me the importance of preparation. As a widow mom, I’ve learned that having life insurance, a second source of income, and a will and testament isn’t just about finances — it’s about love and peace of mind.

They all matter in the end.

Hi everyone!
If you are new to my page. I want to introduce myself…

I’m Gladys, originally from the Philippines. I married an amazing American man for 17 years, and together we were blessed with two wonderful daughters — now teenagers! Life took an unexpected turn when I became a widow in September 2025, and since then I’ve been navigating this new chapter while working full-time and raising my girls.

Being an immigrant, a mom, and now a widow has taught me so much about resilience, love, and gratitude. I’m excited to connect with all of you, share my journey, and hopefully inspire others along the way.

Every few years, I take my girls back to the Philippines — not only to reunite with family, but to reconnect with our Filipino heritage. I want them to grow up proud of where they come from and to carry that love and culture wherever life takes them🇵🇭🇺🇸

Twelve years ago I worked in a convenience store making donuts, pizza, sandwiches and other convenient food. I worked overnights mostly to accommodate our family schedule to not pay daycare.
My husband was a truck driver then became a school custodian. We would take care of the girls alternately because taking then to daycare was costly.
I still love going to the convenience store and get to see familiar faces that I worked with years ago. I enjoyed talking to customers and people in general. There were good, funny and crazy stories.

This job had many memories. There were days when my husband brought the girls to the store to buy food and to visit me. Even up to this day the girls and I love coming here, not only to enjoy the food but still to see the good people that work here.

We were all getting ready this morning. Our youngest came up to me and sadly asked if she could stay home because she misses her daddy. I hugged her and consoled her.

No questions asked.

I called the school to let them know. They understand. The first thing I thought was to take her to the cemetery and we went to the gas station to get breakfast.

Grief is heartbreaking and emotional. I did not try to minimize her emotions this morning. I could’ve told her that she’ll be fine and go to school and enjoy her friends.

But our 14-year old loves her daddy so much and the bond they had was heartwarming. She will be growing up onwards with fond daddy memories. He
