Vaya con Dios, Maestro.

We're all grieving today at Los Lobos HQ as we react to the sad news of Flaco Jiménez's passing.

Cesar shared these words with the San Antonio Express: “Not only was Flaco my musical mentor, but he was also a dear friend to all of us Los Lobos. He was such a musical influence on me that he made me run out and buy a bajo sexto and start using it in my band. He will forever be in my heart. What a tremendous loss.”

RIP, Flaco.

Leo Kottke
📍 The Englert @ Iowa City.
📅 Wednesday, September 10

Few guitarists command a stage quite like Leo Kottke. With his unmistakable blend of technical brilliance and eccentric charm, Kottke has been bending genres and dazzling audiences for over five decades. From the raucous energy of twelve-string acoustic to the delicate lyricism of slide guitar, his playing defies easy categorization — rooted in country blues, influenced by classical composers, and filtered through a wildly original musical mind.

A true American original, Kottke’s journey has taken him from small-town coffeehouses to international acclaim, sharing the stage with legends and creating groundbreaking collaborations — including two albums with Phish bassist Mike Gordon. Along the way, he's collected Grammy nominations, cult-classic albums, and a loyal global following.

Whether you're a longtime fan or a newcomer to his music, an evening with Leo Kottke is a rare chance to experience one of the great acoustic guitar storytellers of our time. Expect dazzling musicianship, a few oddball tales, and moments of musical magic you won’t soon forget.
