Successful solo “Overland” trip with no issues. Pulling into the driveway at 6500 miles on our MY26. Our regular camping rig is equipped with a Roof Top Tent and with planning to do a roof conversion to our Grenadier and not having a roof rack, we borrowed a buddies Gazelle tent for this trip.

Averaged almost 18mpg fully loaded from Nebraska, through the Rockies and back to eastern Nebraska. Love how the Grenadier is such a comfortable tourer, the leg home we did 9.5 hrs straight and I wasn’t fatigued from driving and it definitely didn’t feel like I’d been behind the wheel all day. We did turn off ELK several times including on the way into Colorado. You really don’t think about being on until you need to swing wide for an oversized load or emergency vehicle, rude awakening at interstate speeds.

Though we were able to pack way too much crap inside, fall plans are for a rear seat delete and full platform along with a dual battery system. We easily got 4 days powering our Iceco fridge at 37 degrees with the Jackery 1500. I did learn not to have cables coming through the top side of the back doors. I had the solar panels on the roof and a thunderstorm came through, I went to relocate the solar panels after the storm and found tons of water in the rear door lower body cavity. I could see where the water ran down 🤦🏻‍♂️

Though we did light trails, we went through a couple moderately rutted sections looking for a camp with a large suitable flat spot for the tent. We avoided 1 section knowing we didn’t have the clearance. Already on our list is switching to 35s and at least 3” of lift/portals to find and reach those epic camp spots!
