Have an instrument collecting dust? Put it to good use by donating it to the annual Good Vibrations Used Instrument Drive.

This year’s drive will be Saturday, August 9th from 9 a.m. to noon at the UNO Clocktower.

Instruments donated will be restored by the Omaha Chamber Music Society’s Good Vibrations program. They’ll end up in the hands of a student in need here in the Omaha Council Bluffs metro, and you’ll know your old instrument is still creating joy!

Federal funding for public media has been eliminated — and yes, that includes KVNO.

We’re not an NPR affiliate. We don’t take political stances. What we do is bring you beautiful, uplifting classical music and shine a light on the vibrant arts scene right here in our community.

And despite our nonpartisan mission, our federal funding is now gone.
To everyone who reached out to elected officials on behalf of public media: thank you. And to our incredible donors — you’ve kept KVNO on the air for nearly 53 years, and we are deeply grateful.

The road ahead may include tough choices, but one thing remains certain: KVNO is still here. Still local. Still elevating your life with classical music 24/7.

We are Omaha’s Classical Radio.
Stay strong. Stay tuned. Stay classical.

Did you know that South Omaha was once its own city? In fact, the city’s map was first registered on July 18, 1884. Now, 141 years to the day, KVNO will debut a work of music inspired by South Omaha.

Born in Kansas City, the composer and arranger, William Russell Bennett, would go on to work with Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter. But before heading off to New York, he would compose a work titled: “1899: South Omaha.”

Hear it this Friday at 8:45am only on KVNO, Omaha’s Classical Radio.

Anne Marie Kenny is a multi-creative who left Omaha at a young age to sing on the streets of Paris and eventually landed in Prague where she launched a staffing agency just after the Velvet Revolution.

These days, she’s back in Omaha with a new memoir and recently shared with Jeff Koterba about what it took to become an entrepreneur in 1990s Europe.

Tune in for their conversation on Jeff Around Town at 9am Tuesday, only on KVNO, Omaha’s Classical Radio.

We were thrilled to have our July Classical Kid, Sara, visit the KVNO studio with her family!

Sara is 12 years old and plays the flute in her school's band. However, she fell in love with the violin after seeing one at her Grandmother's house.
