Happy Birthday to

One of my favorite guitarists to watch live. His playing style is instantly recognizable, but what has always stood out to me is the way he moves on stage. It’s hard to describe. It almost feels spiritual. At the same time he’s strumming his guitar to make music, that music is moving through him as well, and you always see the impact of that in the way he moves rhythmically to it. He’s always completely immersed in the moment, and you can feel it from the crowd.

And somehow, he’s almost always smiling while doing it.

The coolest part is that his stage presence feels exactly like who he is off stage. The energy is the same. The enthusiasm and loudness are the same. What you see is what you get.

You always get genuine Munky.

Happy Birthday, sir. Hope it’s a great one. 🐒🎸

This May has been my most active month yet.

So many shoots, so much happened, and so much growth packed into a few short weeks. Time flew by in seconds, but somehow it also feels like I had a year’s worth of experience.

This shot of from at Harrah’s Stir Cove ended up being one of my favorite images of the month.

Not just because I caught him completely airborne. Not because it’s punk AF. But because I feel like it captures pure. freaking. joy. The pure child-like joy that comes with live music that’s so contagious.

There are moments at certain shows that hit you the same way from time to time. The kind of moments that make you want to bottle them up or stuff them in your pocket and take them home with you.

This was one of those moments, and I’m really glad I caught it. Thank you again, NFG for the taste of childhood nostalgia and making us lose our s**t. 🥹📸

“People all the time ask me about my blue fingernails. Those fingernails are for you.” 🩵💙

Blue hearts echoed throughout the room all night.

On his Converse. On his guitar. Tattooed on his arms.

The symbol was everywhere, but its pulse could be felt in the lyrics.

Rooted in Virgin Mary Pistol Grip’s Blue Fingernails mental health and su***de awareness campaign, the color became more than a detail. It became part of the story.

Under washes of blue, fuchsia, amber, green, and violet light, Jales moved through the set with the kind of presence that made a crowded room feel small. Every glance toward the audience, every step toward the edge of the stage, every shared lyric seemed to pull people a little closer.

The music carried the familiar warmth of ‘90s alternative rock with shades of post-punk woven through its veins. The songs moved with an uplifting energy, yet each one seemed to carry its own story beneath the surface, inviting listeners to lean in a little closer.

And judging by the faces looking back at the stage, the room felt it too.

And somewhere between the songs, a tambourine found its way to Jim, “The Wizard 2.0,” a familiar face at local shows who couldn’t be there that night.

A small gesture. A big reminder of what community looks like.

Some performances entertain.

Others connect and remind people they’re not alone. 💙

Truthfully, I don’t think anyone was alone at this one.

…But what does the crowd think? 🤔📸

Happy birthday to the ferocious beast we know and love, the man who not only melts our faces with impossible gutturals, demon noises, and pig squeals that have become legendary, but who, in the same breath, brings us to tears with some of the most cathartic lyrics in modern heavy music.

Thank you, Will, for what you do and for the ways you’ve transformed modern deathcore. 🖤🎤

Perfect timing for World Goth Day. 🖤

Cradle of Filth felt less like a concert and more like wandering straight into some decadent gothic fever dream.

For a band so deeply rooted in black metal mythology, the amount of color woven into the set was almost surreal. Cyan, blue, green, violet, pink, and burning orange lights poured across the stage like stained glass in some blasphemous cathedral, making every theatrical moment feel even more dramatic.

Everything about the performance reveled in excess. Smoke, shadows, color, chaos. Theatrics pushed to their most indulgent extreme. A perfect visual companion to “To Live Deliciously,” where darkness isn’t portrayed as something empty or lifeless, but seductive, theatrical, and gloriously overdone…almost bougie.

Beautifully excessive. Exactly as Cradle of Filth should be. 🖤

No theatrics. No pretension. Just relentless brutality from start to finish. The lights flashed like a warning signal while the entire set felt designed to overwhelm your senses as completely as possible.

Pure slam violence in audio form. Exactly what slam should feel like.

Ghost Bath turned the entire room into a living haze of grief, noise, and exorcism.

The smoke hung so thick over the stage that the entire venue started to feel obscured, not just visually, but emotionally too. The sound swallowed everything whole. The screeches tore through the haze like something feral dying, fighting desperately to claw its way out of the dark, while the walls of noise made the room feel detached from reality for a while.

By the end of the set, we all felt a little lighter.

Beautifully devastating performance from Ghost Bath. 🖤

Through the smoke and fractured light, Cultus Black felt less like a live set and more like stepping into some dream you can’t fully explain afterward.

The masked figures moved with an eerie, fluid synchronicity while the only human thing left visible were their eyes. Somehow, that made the performance even more hypnotic. The lead vocalist’s war paint made it feel like you’d wandered into some dark, anime-like world suspended somewhere between reality and hallucination.

A room full of strangers, yet it felt like the stage was staring directly back at us in a familiar way.
