Our 1st of 3 Community Ofrendas being installed throughout La Ciudad de Omaha…there are 7 levels to this Installation at the South Omaha Museum of Immigrant History. Each level signifies a strata of legend and remembrance.

Have you ever heard of George N. Mecham?? He is an Irishman who was a prominent lawyer in Omaha from the 1920's to the late 40's.....Did you know that he was the most important European American "AMIGO" of the oldest Mexican organization in the state of Nebraska!! Come to the South Omaha Immigrant History Museum..tomorrow, at 2pm and witness History For-Yourself...

Received a phone call several days ago informing me that Señor Howard Castaneda Jr., is dead. For many of us senior citizens, Señor Howard served us the best restaurant Mexican food in Omaha. Together with his hermanita/sister Dolores, they operated Howards Charro Restaurant for decades. Howard Jr., was born in the Scottsbluff, Nebraska side of the state in 1935. I caught up with Don Howard in 1976, when Howards Charro Restaurant was just off the south-east corner of 24th & Q street. His gracious serving technique ranked him in my book as one of the 'highest order' restauranteer in the state of Nebraska.....I so admired and respected this Hombre....R.I.P.
