***Update Trixie has found her forever home!***

Our Trixie girl came back available today due to no fault of her own. She is looking for a new lap to lay on. She is not f r e e but less than our kittens.

She is a special girl, so incredibly loving and the master of making biscuits. She takes a while to warm up to her new home and can be easily stressed, but as soon as she is comfortable, she is a snuggling purring machine.

Not all Maine C***s are lap cats, but Trixie is!

Trixie was spayed last week, she is up to date on all of her vaccinations and was dewormed. She came to us from Russia and has had testing done but could not become pregnant. She is only a year and a half! She’s a beautiful High Silver Tabby. Please message for inquiries.

One of the hardest things to explain about breeding is that even when you do everything right, there are still no guarantees with living animals. We health test extensively — including echocardiograms, DNA testing, and careful pedigree research — because we truly care about producing the healthiest Maine C***s possible. Those things greatly reduce risk, but they cannot completely eliminate it.

Maine C***s are a purebred breed, which means they come from a smaller gene pool than mixed breed cats. Because of that, certain health concerns can still appear despite generations of careful breeding and healthy lines. Some conditions are inherited in ways we still don’t fully understand, some can develop later in life, and some are simply unpredictable.

That doesn’t mean ethical breeders stop trying — it means we continue doing everything we can to improve the breed while also being honest and transparent about the reality that no cat is ever guaranteed to be perfect. We love these cats deeply, celebrate the healthy thriving ones, and carry the heartbreak when things don’t go as hoped.

Health testing matters immensely, but it is one piece of responsible breeding — not a magic shield against every possible issue life can bring.
