MONDAY WEATHER: 🌦️ There’s about a 40% chance of showers and thunderstorms today. Otherwise, we’ll be partly sunny with a high of about 80 degrees. As of this writing, indications are that any rainfall we see today will be very light, with the better dynamics for some strong afternoon thunderstorms diving to our south. However, this is subject to change.
☀️ THE REST OF THE WEEK: A rather dry air mass, for summer, will settle in for the remainder of this week. We’ll see lots of sunshine and temperatures in the upper 70s each day for the rest of the week. Nighttime lows will generally be in the low to mid 50s.
THE WEEKEND: Moisture will begin to return to the atmosphere on Friday, driving up temperatures and also increasing humidity levels. It looks like we’ll be dry Friday, with just a slight chance of thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday. It’ll be warm, with temperatures in the mid 80s.
FURTHER OUT: Next week looks hot, with daily chances of rain and thunderstorms — a pretty typical summer pattern. The heat may back off a bit as we head into the middle of June, and our rain chances may increase.
💧 RIVER CONDITIONS: Streamflows are much above normal for this time of year, due to those weekend thunderstorms to our south. The Big South Fork River is flowing at about 3,000 cubic feet per second (cfs), which is near a daily record for this date after spiking to over 13,000 cfs on Saturday. Upstream, Clear Fork is still flowing above 500 cfs. Water temperatures topped out near 68 degrees yesterday. Water clarity is poor. For paddlers, the National Park Service maintains a description of river levels here: https://www.nps.gov/biso/planyourvisit/riverlevels.htm
