THURSDAY WEATHER: 🌧️ Rain comes to an end today.

• Sunrise/Sunset: 7:58/6:44.• Average temps: 64°/37°. Records: 82° (1971), 18° (1976).• Year-To-Date Rainfall: 51.9” (Normal: 48.2”).

☔️ DETAILS: A very wet stretch of October weather will end today, as rain slowly tapers off. There’s a 70% chance of rain, but that’s primarily for the early morning hours, and there won’t be much of it. Rain should have moved out by mid-morning, and almost certainly will be gone by lunchtime. After that, we’ll see breezy conditions, with wind gusts to 20 mph. Temperatures will be nearly steady in the mid to upper 40s. It’ll be dry but cold tonight for high school football games in Maryville and Sweetwater, with temperatures dropping into the 30s before the games end.

🌤 THE WEEKEND: We’ll see pretty good weather for the weekend. Tomorrow will be mostly sunny with a high of 54•, although winds will still be gusting to around 20 mph. Saturday will see a bit more cloud cover and a bit warmer temperatures, as we top out around 57°. There’s a very slight chance of rain Saturday night and first thing Sunday morning, but it won’t rain much. We’ll see partly sunny skies and a high of about 58° Sunday.

🌤 NEXT WEEK: Warmer temperatures will return to start next week, reaching the low 60s by Monday and the mid 60s by Wednesday. We will see some slight chances of light rain Tuesday night and Wednesday, but for the most part we’ll be dry next week. It’s starting to look very warm late next week and next weekend, with 70s possibly creeping back into the forecast.

FURTHER OUT: We’ll stay very warm until the next cold front arrives, which currently looks like it might be around Nov. 11.

🥶 FROST/FREEZE WATCH: There’s a very slight chance of some light frost Halloween night. But a hard freeze doesn’t look like it’ll happen for at least the next couple of weeks.

🌀HURRICANE WATCH: Hurricane Melissa has now cleared the Bahamas and will continue moving northeast as no threat to the U.S. mainland, slowly weakening to tropical storm status over the weekend. Otherwise, the tropics are very quiet, and this could very well be the last gasp of the 2025 hurricane season, though the season doesn’t officially end until the end of November.

WEDNESDAY WEATHER: 🌧️ Rain for days…

• Sunrise/Sunset: 7:57/6:45.• Average temps: 64°/37°. Records: 80° (2014), 18° (1976).• Year-To-Date Rainfall: 51.7” (Normal: 48.1”).

☔️ DETAILS: A very anomalous October week continues, with another storm system bringing moderate rainfall to the region. There’s a 100% chance of rain today and tonight, with a high of about 52° today and a low of 43° tonight. More than an inch of rain is likely today and tonight. Rain continues tomorrow morning, tapering off in the afternoon with wind gusts to 20 mph and temperatures only in the upper 40s. There’s a slight chance of showers tomorrow night, with temperatures falling into the 30s. The precipitation should be gone by high school football (Oneida at Eagleton, Scott High at Sweetwater), but it’ll be a cool and breezy night.

🌤 THE WEEKEND: Much better weather arrives for Halloween, with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid 50s. We’ll see a bit more cloud cover and a bit warmer temperatures on Saturday, as we push into the upper 50s. Slight rain chances return for Sunday, with temperatures continuing in the upper 70s.

🌤 NEXT WEEK: Temperatures will push back into the low 60s on Monday, which is about normal for this time of year. The next cold front will likely arrive at the end of the week, with a line of showers and thunderstorms expected on Nov. 7 or Nov. 8. Temperatures should bounce back quickly, however.

🥶 FROST/FREEZE WATCH: There’s a slight chance for more light, patchy frost on Saturday morning. Some areas have seen a couple of light freezes this month, but our first hard freeze is probably still a ways off — likely not happening for at least the next couple of weeks.

🌀HURRICANE WATCH: Hurricane Melissa will cross Cuba today as a major hurricane, then accelerate as she moves northeast, reaching Bermuda tomorrow night. She will not be a threat to the U.S. mainland.

TUESDAY WEATHER: 🌧️ Less rain, but still gloomy.

• Sunrise/Sunset: 7:56/6:46.• Average temps: 65°/37°. Records: 80° (2014), 19° (1976).• Year-To-Date Rainfall: 50.3” (Normal: 48.0”).

☁️ DETAILS: We’ll find ourselves between major storm systems today, with slightly warmer temperatures and less chances of rain. We’ll top out around 58° this afternoon, which will probably be the warmest day this week. There’s a 30% chance of rain showers. Late tonight, the next storm system arrives, and rain will become very likely, continuing through the day tomorrow and well into Thursday. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s for highs on Thursday, along with winds gusting to 20 mph both tomorrow and Thursday. The rain will start to move out Thursday afternoon. It looks like we’ll be in good shape by the start of high school football games in Eagleton and Sweetwater Thursday evening, but there could be a few remnant showers lingering around.

🌤 THE WEEKEND: Things will improve for the weekend. Halloween will bring mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the mid 50s. We’ll see more clouds and similar temperatures on Saturday. Light rain chances return Saturday night and continue through Sunday.

FURTHER OUT: We’ll start next week with slight rain chances and cooler-than-normal temperatures. We’ll see a warming trend as we go through the week and the next storm system approaches. The next cold front looks to be around Nov. 7-8, which will likely result in a line of showers and perhaps thunderstorms followed by a quick shot of cooler temperatures. After that, much of November looks to be normal to perhaps slightly above normal as far as temperatures are concerned.

🥶 FROST/FREEZE WATCH: Just about everyone has seen some light frost by now. The next threat of frost will be Friday night. We may see a threat of a light freeze by the middle of next week.

🌀HURRICANE WATCH: Hurricane Melissa continues to wreak havoc as she interacts with the island nations as a major hurricane. This storm will re-enter the open waters of the Atlantic still at hurricane strength later this week, but will not be a threat to the U.S. mainland.

MONDAY WEATHER: 🌧️ A wet Monday awaits.

• Sunrise/Sunset: 7:55/6:48.• Average temps: 65°/37°. Records: 81° (1963), 18° (1962).• Year-To-Date Rainfall: 50.0” (Normal: 47.9”).

☔️ DETAILS: A very unusual fall week is upon us. It’s going to rain a lot this week, with two separate storm systems dumping on us. The first is currently underway, and there’s a 100% chance of rain in the forecast today with a high of about 53°. Rain will slowly taper off tonight, and tomorrow we’ll be between storm systems, with only a 20% chance of rain and a high of 59° — the warmest day of the week. The second storm system arrives tomorrow night, and rain will be likely through Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures falling. By Thursday we’ll probably stay in the 40s all day — quite cold for this time of year! October is typically the driest month of the year, with an average of just over three inches of rain in our area. We may see that much rain this week alone! Things should improve in time for high school football Thursday night, though it’ll be chilly and breezy.

🌤 THE WEEKEND: Much better weather is anticipated this weekend, although it may not be completely rain-free. Halloween will be mostly sunny with a high of around 52°. Saturday will see a few more clouds and a little warmer temperatures, but still dry with a high in the mid 50s. Slight rain chances return Saturday night into Sunday.

FURTHER OUT: Below-average temperatures will likely persist next week.

🥶 FROST/FREEZE WATCH: Just about everyone has seen some light frost by now. The next threat of frost will be Friday night. We may see a threat of a light freeze by the middle of next week.

🌀HURRICANE WATCH: Hurricane Melissa is a Category 4 beast that is about to wreak havoc on Jamaica, as a very quiet hurricane season perhaps ends with a major bang. This storm is already turning northeast and is not a threat to the U.S. mainland.
