There is a quaint town in North Carolina called Burnsville. It is the quintessential small town, consisting of a town square with huge oak trees surrounded by boutiques, amazing restaurants and historical hotels. It is also near the Mayland Dark Sky Observatory. This has been on our bucket list since we started coming the mountains of North Carolina. Even though the weather didn't completely cooperate, we had an amazing experience. The staff were incredibly knowledgeable and had such a passion for astronomy. We stayed at The Terrell House Bed and Breakfast. The home was lovely and everything a bed and breakfast should be. Su and Mike were phenomenal hosts! They suggested we eat at The Carriage House, which is part of the Nuwray Hotel, the oldest hotel in North Carolina, and it did not disappoint. We will be back for sure!
