Attention Red Dragons: SUNY Oneonta’s very own, student-run newspaper is now accepting applications for PAID positions. That’s right--$$$$$, well, more like $$$.
We, at the State Times, have a lot of fun working together. Participating in an organization with the authority of publication is a great opportunity. English and media studies majors (although these jobs are not limited to such degrees), understand that writing, editing, and publishing are essential components of the field. The State Times offers hands-on experience, in these areas, and helps to build your resume and portfolio of published works.
The salary displayed below will describe the rate of pay for one issue/week of work. Issues are published weekly, ten times throughout the duration of the semester. Each section, copy and managing editor is required to write one editorial--an opinion piece of approximately 750 words--per semester in addition to the editor-in-chief and staff writers.
There will be a brief training session for anyone that is intimidated by writing or editing for a newspaper, however, there is nothing to worry about! If meeting times conflict with your schedule, we encourage you to still apply--perhaps we can work something out! If you do have a foreseeable conflict, please specify in your application.
