Greetings dear readers,
As the day winds down, let's sit down on the porch with a cup of coffee, a glass of tea, or whatever suits your fancy and get to know each other. Of all the pages in all the world, you have ‘walked’ into mine. Thank you. Oh, and bonus points if you know what quote that previous phrase was based on. 😊
If you are looking for glitz, glam, and Pinterest-worthy posts, then you may want to scroll on by. If you are looking for chipped paint, scraggily plants (as I try to figure out what the heck I am doing), unkempt yards, and a lived-in home, then you might want to stay a spell and relax. As I near the end of my 50s, I am learning what is truly important… community. Something with which I am struggling to grow, but I know that God wants me to do that somehow through learning to garden. I firmly believe that if we began to love our neighbors, and I mean our actual neighbors, the ones across the street and around the block, then we could begin to effect real and positive change within our communities, towns, states, and country.
On top of the scraggily plants, you will find encouragement through scripture and what God is teaching me, and hopefully a few stories, both fiction and non-fiction. This page will be real, authentic, and genuinely me. You will not find AI on my page. I do, on occasion, use Canva, but I do not utilize the AI function (you tell it what you want, and it produces images for you to choose from). The world is full of incorrect information, chaos, and negativity. My goal is to be a place of respite where you can come to relax, enjoy, and remember that there is so much beauty, fun, and goodness in the world.
Finally, while I am working on being more consistent with content, I must be careful that it does not consume me. Nor do I want it to consume you. This is a wonderful place to connect virtually and to use as a creative outlet, but if we are not careful, it will become an idol we worship, or we become so consumed by reaching the next target that we miss what is important in our actual lives.
So dear readers, live, love, and laugh, but don’t forget to step off the social media merry-go-round, take a deep breath, and enjoy the life that God has given you. Whether you are in the Hundred Acre Woods (bonus points again) or a studio apartment, you can find beauty and a reason to be grateful.
Shalom
Jennifer
