AFCRAS received the following message from N2EMA, concerning the great experience he had with AFCRAS coordinating the repeater located in Flat Rock, Alabama in Jackson County, AL. Questions about coordinating a repeater in Alabama? Please visit afcras.org for more info.
Dan,
You will never know how grateful we are to you and AFCRAS.
You have acted on this much quicker than I ever expected.
Like always, I had many Hams tell me it wouldn’t happen, there wasn’t any pairs available and those that may be, the others didn’t want more 2 meter rigs bc of interference or congestion. I spent hours on research and quit frankly was about to give up when I was getting to 147.045 with only one more pair to go. NC must have had a problem with input as I noticed they were negative offset.
I just thankful I ran across you and the AFCRAS web site first.
After all my research, I mentioned it to KB4BSA and he said Try it and let’s see what the ARC says about it. I didn’t know any difference between the 2 agencies so I searched Ham Frequency Coordination Alabama and AFCRAS popped up and you know the rest of the story. I’m just so thankful it was you, otherwise, I believe I would still be waiting if not denied.
I had 2 or 3 that said I should have licensed it at KK4ICU’s place. He is about 10 mikes SW of me and has an elevation about 200+ feet higher than me. My response was I’m happy just getting a pair coordinated and it should work fine.
I will let you know as we progress and I will take you and Langley out for lunch next time I get to come your way. I’m tempted to make a special trip just to meet you face to face and shake your hand.
Gotta run, as I need to program a Kenwood mobile for Cherokee Co EMA. Later my friend.
