There are some days I wish with my whole heart my mom could be here to see, to laugh, to be here to hug, to cry, to joke with us more than others. Today was one of them.
Grief is strange, it never goes away, you just learn to continue on, to build new memories, to live. Slowly you find a new normal, but it will rush back to you in waves, it ebbs and flows, sometimes trying to drag you under, other times lifting you up, pushing you to shore.
Sometimes the grief is deep, mature, other times it’s random and strange, like I think she never got to watch the rest of Avengers, she never got to see Toy Story 4 and 5. She wasn’t in sitting next to me for her granddaughter’s first dance recital. We didn’t have this moment together.
We never got to live in the same city again.
