Ten years ago, I did an illustration of my character, Jalene, which ended up being sold at a convention. I decided to do a reinterpretation of the same pose this year to see if I could improve on it.

I volunteered for "Celebrate Literacy Week" at Kelley Smith Elementary school in Palatka. The reading for today was the inspiring book "What do you do with an idea?" to this incredible group of second graders. One of them looked at me when I first walked in and called me the "comic man." Not sure if I had ever met him. After I read the book, I was asked by a student if I could read another one! I felt bad that I had to say no. Then I told the first student that he was right, I am the "comic man" and showed a copy of Ms. Johnni that I brought with me...and jaws dropped! I was then asked if I could read Ms. Johnni. Fun times!

Just for fun, I asked Copilot if there was a comic called Ms Johnni. While there is a one off Ms Johnni tale published by in their anthology "Japan needs Heroes", she was just on loan to them. ;)
