🚨 Attention Oakleaf High School Families 🚨

We understand that “Senior Sunrise” has become a tradition for some students, but we want to make it clear: this is not a school-sanctioned event by Oakleaf High School or Clay County District Schools.

📚 Principal Fluent has confirmed that school is in session today and all seniors are expected to be in class.

🚫 Students participating are in violation of truancy laws.

Unfortunately we are receiving complaints from other beachgoers of loud music, illegal drug use, and alcohol.

Parents of Oakleaf seniors: please contact your child and remind them to leave the beach and return to school immediately.

Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our kids safe, in school, and on the path to graduation. Clay County Sheriff's Office, Florida

911 DISPATCHER TERMINATED FOLLOWING FELONY ARREST
July 17, 2025

Earlier today we were notified by Palatka Police Department of an investigation involving animal cruelty charges against one of our 911 dispatchers.

Brianna Allender, 22, was working at the time we were notified. Allender was immediately removed from her position and placed on administrative leave. She agreed to meet with detectives with the police department.

Per policy, upon her arrest by Palatka Police Department, Allender was terminated. She has worked for the sheriff’s office for about a year.

Palatka Police Department is the lead investigator in this case as the allegations occurred within their jurisdiction. They will release information related to the case as they deem necessary and we fully support their investigation.

“This situation deeply saddens me,” Sheriff H.D. ‘Gator’ DeLoach said. “As an avid dog lover I cannot fathom the idea of someone abandoning their dogs. We are a family here at the sheriff’s office, we have a working relationship with Animal Control and there are resources we could have provided if help had been requested. These animals should not have had to suffer.”

On June 18th, 2025, a female victim called the Clay County Sheriff’s Office to report a theft. Two deputies were dispatched to her residence in Orange Park to investigate the call. While the deputies were at the victim’s residence, one of the deputies, later identified as Ryan Perry, followed the victim upstairs to her bedroom while the second deputy remained downstairs gathering more information from witnesses. While Perry and the victim were in the bedroom alone, Perry demanded that the victim expose her breasts to him and he then inappropriately touched the victim, against her will, in a manner that completed the offense of sexual battery.

On June 21st, 2025, CCSO was notified of the allegations against Perry and detectives were immediately assigned to begin a detailed investigation. Through multiple interviews and further investigative efforts, detectives gathered the evidence needed to arrest Perry for Armed Sexual Battery and he was arrested earlier this evening June 27th, 2025. Perry’s employment was terminated at the time of his arrest.

Ryan Perry has been employed by the Clay County Sheriff’s Office since October of 2018. During that time, CCSO received two citizen complaints on Perry that were investigated. One investigation was sustained, and one was unfounded.

“I want to speak directly to any citizen of Clay County who has ever been through the burdens and trauma of a sexual assault. We hear you, we stand with you, and we will fight for you. I could not be more disappointed to have to share this news tonight. It is devastating to us an agency and to me personally. I can assure you that we will follow through on this and justice will be served.” – Sheriff Michelle Cook
As this investigation continues, we encourage anyone who may have had a similar experience with Ryan Perry to contact detectives with the Clay County Sheriff's Office at (904) 264-6512.
