North South Trader's Civil War

North South Trader's Civil War The award-winning magazine for Civil War collectors, relic hunters, researchers, and historians.

Welcome to the award-winning North South Trader's Civil War magazine, the first and finest periodical dedicated to collectors, relic hunters, historians, and researchers of the War Between the States. Since 1973 we have celebrated the Civil War artifact as a contextual document of history. We have published well over 1,000 articles focusing on every type of relic that exists, from minie balls to u

niforms to gunboats. The artifact is our niche, and whether brought home as a war trophy by a veteran, preserved by descendants, stored in a museum, housed at a historical society, or excavated from the soil, all have a place within our pages. We have been active in historic preservation since our first issue, and we are proud of the fact that we were the first Civil War collectors' magazine to publicize the fight against rampant development of the primary relic: the battlefield. Long before ARPA ever existed, we were the first to publish the ethics and etiquette of Civil War relic hunting, including but not limited to obtaining permission for private property and never encroaching on protected lands. Please join us as we continue to investigate Civil War history through the untold stories of its artifacts.

Wow! Today's event honoring the US Army's 250 years of valor, commitment, and patriotism was truly inspiring. It gave me a renewed sense of gratitude for having been fortunate to spend my life writing about and commemorating our glorious history and many of its heroes. Thanks to all of you for supporting our humble efforts to do so for so many years. God bless each of you, and God bless America.---Steve and Nancy

Having recovered from the Fredericksburg Show last weekend we are back to concentrating on our summer show at Doswell, VA, the National Civil War & Antique Arms Show, one of the nation's oldest Civil War shows. Following close on the heels of the pioneer NVRHA, Gettysburg, and Richmond shows of the early-mid 1970s North South Trader held its first on July26-27, 1975, at Harper's Ferry and featured Will Gavin, Alphaeus Albert, Bill Albaugh, Lewis Leigh, Bill Turner, George Lower, Joe Leisch, Dean Thomas, Bill Evans, Mike Kramer, Joe Canole, Dave mark, Wendell Lang, John Brackin, and pretty much everyone of note at the time. The atmosphere was electric! Food, beverages, even rides on a hot-air balloon were available. Our 50th anniversary event will be much larger this summer. Make your plans to attend now!---Steve
