Several Orcutt parks are on tap in the just released County Parks and Recreation Master Plan--guidelines for the next 2 decades. 4 soccer fields at Waller Park, state of the art complex off UVP including softball, soccer, tennis, and pickleball courts and an aquatic center, new parks near Terrazzo Way and Shilo Ct with connections to Orcutt Community Park, expansion of the Orcutt trail system, park facilities in what's known as Mud Lake in the Oak Knoll neighborhood and a new park in Old Town Orcutt. Always a fun event...the quarterly Friends of the Orcutt Library Book Sale. Hundreds of fiction and non-fiction books plus media all at reduced prices. Saturday from 10am to 1:30 at the Orcutt Library in the Orcutt Plaza in Old Town Orcutt.

Thanks to so many who donated foods-cereal, granola bars, soups, fruit juice, tuna, rice and pasta, toiletries, baby supplies, pet supplies, N95@KN95 masks, blankets and so more to LA fire victims. Michelle Southwick at OASIS made the plea and many responded. Michelle is delivering the donations this weekend with another load to go down in the days to follow.

On Friday, Michelle Southwick (OASIS Center) is spending the day at the site of the Palisades and Eaton fires. She will be making a delivery of supplies to help those affected by the fires. If you would like to contribute, the following are the items service organizations are looking for:
Non-perishable foods— cereal, crackers, granola bars, canned soups, nut butters (peanut butter, almond butter), canned fruit juice, canned vegetables, canned tuna-chicken or salmon, canned beans, spaghetti sauce, rice and pasta, new toiletries, baby supplies, new or gently used and laundered clothing, N95 & KN95 masks, saline nasal spray, chapstick. Pet supplies— Dog and Cat-food and water bowls and blankets.
Donations may be brought to the OASIS Center, 420 Soares (across from Orcutt Jr. Hi) or the Southwick-Hull residence (335 Pabst Lane, near Lakeview Jr. Hi) by this Thursday.

A significant step has been taken for Orcutt to have its own, stand alone library. The Board of Supervisors has given an OK for initial steps to locate the new library in what will be a community area including the OASIS Center near Orcutt Creek west of Foxenwood Lane and Clark Ave. Supervisor Bob Nelson's office, Executive Director of OASIS Michelle Southwick and Betty Gunn, President of the Friends of Orcutt Library made the announcement.
Being considered is County acquisition of the OASIS property and then leasing the land to the senior organization with terms similar to the arrangement OASIS has with the Orcutt school district.
