Just some pics from a scenic rest stop on I-70 in Utah. Between Richfield and Green River is this breathtaking landscape overlooking the San Rafael Swell. So many layers and different colors. Worth stopping for a few minutes to stretch and explore on your way to wherever you are going.

Peteetneet School, now a museum and art center in Payson, Utah, was built in 1901. I loved the bell tower that one source described as “flamboyant.” And the little faces carved into the sandstone, quietly watching the west entrance. Even though it was closed on Monday, the grounds were still worth the visit. My kids loved the playground and I loved following the sidewalk around the park. There is even an amphitheater. And a gazebo!

The Lace Curtain in Millard County, Utah, has eluded me for a long time. I had been to Pahvant Butte and even made it to the old wind farm on top (definitely needs to be a reel someday), but never quite trekked to the north side. After seeing Tiffany Harvey | Outdoor Explorer reels, I couldn't NOT visit any longer. I'm glad I braved the drive in my miniature van, because holy cow. The way the volcanic rock just looks like it's melting and dripping down a cliffside is incredible! I probably wouldn't drive there in most cars, but the van was fine. A truck or SUV or OHV wouldn't even notice. The hike wasn't that bad either.

I'm pretty sure Millard County is the most underrated in all of Utah.
