People often ask what it’s really like to own a business or how the business is going.
Sometimes entrepreneurship looks exciting.
Sometimes it looks like growth.
Sometimes it looks like awards.
But more often than not, it looks like finally getting ahead... and choosing to invest it all back into the people you serve.
When we opened our Lindon location three years ago, we knew summers were hot. 🥵
Over the next few years, we invested in:
• 2 Giant Commercial Fans ($24,000)
• Window tint ($8,000)
• A 3rd Commerical Fan ($12,000)
We tried everything we could before making the leap to air conditioning in this massive 17,000 square foot building.
Last December, we paid off our Lindon building. For the first time in years, it felt like we could finally take a deep breath.
Then we made another big decision...
A $90,000+ investment we felt was a true need.
30 Tons of AC, Lots of Help, Very Limited Timeline.
Just 10 days to complete the project between our Spring and Summer seasons.
That meant tearing apart every spring floor, installing ductwork, electrical, roof work, coordinating crane lifts, rebuilding the gym, and somehow being ready before athletes walked back through the doors.
Reid coordinated the entire project with my dad while continuing to work his full-time job. Mind blown🤯
My dad, who owns Frank Buhler Construction, practically lived at DTA during those 10 days.
Our staff and family jumped in to help every step of the way!
It was STRESSFUL.
There wasn’t much sleep.
And honestly... with a building this big, we weren’t even sure if 30 tons of AC would be enough. 🙈
Thankfully, it was!
Between our new AC system and the airflow from our fans, we’ve finally found the balance we were hoping for! Hearing athletes, parents, coaches, and staff tell us how much more comfortable the gym has been this summer has made every late night, every dollar, and every ounce of stress worth it.
We’re not building DTA for today.
We’re building DTA it for the long game. ❤️
Thank you DTA Community for being here! I hope to share more of the behind the scenes of building DTA and what entrepreneurship really looks like.
Thanks for following along!
