🫠 Ron’s broken wand seems to me like one of the stupidest plot devices in the Harry Potter saga. I’m 100% sure the Weasleys could have afforded to buy him another one, and on top of that, letting him do magic all year with a broken wand was incredibly irresponsible on the part of every adult involved.

Do You Know How a Basilisk Is Born?

Contrary to what many people believe, a basilisk is not born naturally. It is artificially created by a wizard with dark intentions.

The first known basilisk was created by Herpo the Foul, a Greek wizard and Parselmouth. After many attempts, he discovered that a chicken egg hatched beneath a toad would result in the birth of this extremely dangerous creature.

A basilisk can grow up to fifteen meters long, has a dark green coloration, and, in the case of males, a red plume on top of its head. When well fed, it can live for centuries.

Herpo’s basilisk lived for around nine hundred years, as did the one created by Salazar Slytherin and hidden in the Chamber of Secrets.

Since the Middle Ages, the breeding of basilisks has been illegal. Its venom is deadly, with phoenix tears being the only known antidote. Even so, its most lethal weapon is its gaze, which can kill instantly. Only Parselmouths are capable of controlling this creature.
