Had the most brunch experience at Chef Ju’von’s and it was everything. I tried the deep‑fried whole snapper served with his signature lobster‑bisque grits and that sweet cornbread glazed with Henny‑honey butter, every bite was on point.

Then I got the breakfast waffle trio (because waffles make brunch a vibe) and it paired so perfectly with the savory dishes. Going with made it even more special, a table full of powerful, beautiful women eating, laughing, and building each other up. I’m so glad I’m part of this sisterhood and that I got to enjoy a meal this bougie and soulful at the same time.

✨ If you ask me — this brunch? Worth every moment.

✨🎨 Did you know Black women in Orlando are disproportionately impacted by HIV; yet our stories are often the last to be seen or heard❓

This event was created to change that narrative. To honor the women behind the statistics. To bring truth healing education and empowerment into a space where Black creativity and lived experiences stand boldly at the center.

Every room was designed to spark awareness and conversation, from live poetry that spoke to our strength and our struggles to storytelling that revealed the realities of what it looks like to contract and navigate life with HIV especially for Black woman. I connected with pieces of our history through preserved Black artifacts and reflected on what World AIDS Day truly means in our community. 🩸

It was an evening about visibility love and breaking silence; supported by incredible culinary expression. A 24K crêpe that felt like luxury on a plate and unforgettable oxtail empanadas layered with deep rich flavor the kind that that makes you want to eat 42 of them, both by . Refreshing cocktails completed the experience with intention by ! 🥂

The Water Lantern Festival reminded me how important it is to slow down and create intentional moments of peace. Watching hundreds of lanterns float across the water felt like a reset for the soul. The environment was calm, family friendly, and filled with people who simply wanted to breathe, reflect, release and welcome something new into their lives.

If you have been feeling overwhelmed, mentally exhausted or disconnected from yourself, this experience is worth adding to your personal healing journey. The act of writing your intentions or your prayers on a lantern and releasing it into the water feels symbolic and freeing. No matter where you live there is a Water Lantern Festival happening somewhere in the world and it is truly worth attending at least once. It is a safe space to reflect on your life, find inner peace and be surrounded by a community of people who are also seeking calm and clarity.

I left feeling lighter, grounded and emotionally refreshed. If your heart has been asking for a quiet moment of healing, go.

Socotra Cafe in Tampa deserves a moment because these lattes were an experience from the very first sip. ✨

I tried the Strawberry Matcha Latte and the Dubai Chocolate Latte, and while the strawberry matcha was delicious, the Dubai Chocolate Latte absolutely stole the show. 🍫

The Strawberry Matcha Latte has a smooth, creamy matcha base blended with fresh strawberry purée. The sweetness is balanced, not overpowering, so you still taste the matcha. It’s refreshing, light, and a great choice if you enjoy fruity notes in your drinks. 🍓

Now, the star: the Dubai Chocolate Latte. This was luxury in a cup. Although it’s called a chocolate latte, the flavor is more pistachio-forward, and that’s exactly what makes it unforgettable. The pistachio cream, paired with crushed pistachios on top, gives a rich, nutty, velvety taste with just enough chocolate to complement it rather than dominate it. I 1000 out of 10 recommend. I would go back for this alone.

One thing to note: Socotra Cafe stays busy, and I mean consistently packed. However, they’re open late, usually until 12 AM, so it’s a perfect late-night coffee run if you don’t mind the crowd.

I am proud to serve as an Ambassador for and I’m inviting you to join me as we come together for a powerful community movement on Saturday, December 13 at Grove Park.
A Walk for Change raises funds to support 14 local HIV service agencies that provide HIV prevention, testing, education and care throughout Central Florida. Last year, more than $65,000 was raised. This year, the goal is $100,000 and with your support, we can reach it.

Registration is now open. You may register as an individual walker for $50 or organize a team of 10 for $450. If you’re part of a business, community group, school, or organization that values giving back, this is a meaningful opportunity to walk with purpose and create an impact that directly supports our community.
