Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is a movie that is made for a guy like me, who can sit back with snack and a drink and enjoy 2 hours of action, explosions and giant robots fighting, now with that being said I think the whole family will enjoy this movie.
Noah and Elena are loveable characters who I enjoyed watching interact with favorite like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee and some newcomers like Mirage!
Mirage and Noah had a great buddy relationship that really translated through the screen thanks to Pete Davidson’s hilarious and heartwarming performance as Mirage (my favorite character of the film).
The introduction of the Maximals was fantastic and I can’t wait to see the role they will play in future films. While I wish we got more time with the Maximals, it was incredible seeing Optimus Primal, Rhinox and the gang brought to life on the big screen.
The Maximals weren’t the only new race of Alien Robots we were introduced to though! We got our first look at Unicron and got to see Scourge and the Terrorcons in some down right terrifying scenes. The robodog things in the museum had me feel like I was playing The Last of Us or something, I hope this isn’t all we see of Unicron and the Terrorcons and they reappear in future movies.
So how does this connect to previous Transformers films? It’s a sequel set in the Bumblebee timeline, meaning the Shia LaBeouf and Mark Wahlberg movies are no longer canon, although this film being set in the 90’s allowed for a fantastic Marky Mark joke that had the whole theatre laughing.
There’s a pretty clear direction we’re heading in after the events of this movie and I can’t wait to see what comes next!
I think this movie is a MUST SEE in theaters on the biggest, IMAXiest screen possible!
The Empire rates Transformers: Rise of the Beasts a 5 out of 5!
