What happened to Reggae Theory?
First and foremost I would like to thank each and every one of you for the tremendous amount support throughout the short amount of years we been around. A lot of people have been wondering what happened to Reggae Theory and why it randomly stopped. Reggae Theory was created because of the passion and love I had for reggae music and the reggae music industry. It's such a beautiful community full of peace, love and unity and it brings people together because it's all about good vibes. What was the theory? The Theory was share and spread the word on what shows were coming to a area near you as well as what new music is coming out which resulted in more love to the artists and venues with more attendees and more music listeners no matter how big your band was. Reggae Theory aimed to promote and it was to bring your attention to many varieties and styles and up and comers in reggae music. We've been the only one on social media that has been spreading the word on new music and new shows at the rate we were doing it.
Why did it end? A little background on me who runs Reggae Theory. I've worked in the reggae music industry for about 7-8 years or so and for my taste and love for the music industry came upon while working for a brand called Kulcha Shok Muzik as a volunteer/vendor. They gave me a behind the scenes tatse of everything and I had the privilege of working some really rad events and got to meet many amazing artists. They taught how to sell merch and gave me a newfound passion and love for reggae music. During that time I gotten to meet and bond with individuals and found a group that became overall my favorite band who I will not name. They wasn't really that Reggae but they were a part of the reggae music scene and I fell in love with their music. The music and lyrics really stuck with me personally and I felt I had a connection to many of the songs and lyrics that they put out. After getting to know then a bit more, I got the honor and privilege to be their merchandise manager. For about 4-5 years I was grateful to have gotten to travel the United States and the Virgin Islands and got to be in every single state except for 2. These people I considered family and had some of the greatest memories I wouldn't trade for the world. During my time with them, i caught the eyes of many other bands and events and had the privilege of selling merchandise for bands including The Expendables, Slightly Stoopid, Stick Figure, Joe Samba, Rome and many more. I LOVED selling merch! Unfortunately people I've considered family and idols changed how I felt about everything and I've lost a quite amount of passion that I used to have for all of this. The band I worked with for about 5 years decided my time was over mid tour because I was being publicly vocal about not receiving any credit cards tips from them for the amount of years and work I gave them. Their own management gave me the opportunities to work for other bands during the off season of tours who paid me in full every time and those bands showed me what I should be making financially that knew my worth with the work that put in. The band took things further and assumedly had me blacklisted from doing merch for others and events as nobody reaches out to me anymore whatsoever for gigs. Because of all this, my passion for everything and reggae theory has gone quite stale. I had a lot of time on my hands while doing what I love so I was able to always spread the word about upcoming shows and bring you New Music Friday each and every Friday. And let me tell ya, New Music Friday was really rough on me mentally each and every Friday trying to keep up with everything as well as battling Facebook and Instagrams technical problems they have so often but your constant love and support kept me going. I feel like I was extremely let down by a lot of people after I was let go and it's left a bad taste in me and I just don't have the passion or the time for that matter i used to have for everything anymore. I spend my current days working normal jobs now trying to make ends meet so me and my loved one can continue to live under the same roof.
I had a great time bringing you Reggae Theory. Many many connections were made and everything I did made a huge impact on the music scene. I wish I could continue bringing you the good vibes from shows to new music but unfortunately I'm just not there to do it anymore. Is this the end forever of Reggae Theory? I currently don't have an answer for that but hopefully down the road my passion and love for it will come back. Again, I want to thank you all for the amount of the support of all the years and hope to be back one day 🤙
