As a movie buff, director Zach Snyder has always impressed me.
300,
Dawn of the Dead,
Watchmen,
Justice League (directors cut),
Army of the Dead,
and his newest 'Rebel Moon', when it came out a year ago, and part 2 a little after, i was disappointed.
Like, it was supposed to be his "Star Wars" or "Lord of the Rings" I thought, a story he'd worked on since childhood.
They were cool, but nothing more.
A few days ago, Netflix released "Rebel Moon part 1 & 2: Directors Cut".
just like he did with Justice league.
and it was a whole new movie altogether. Each part of the Director's cut is about 3 hours+.
He could have easily made this into another Netflix series.
8 - one hour episodes.
He chose the better path to convey his story, I believe.
And while it's been a while since my last movie post, this one deserves recognition.
It's like "Star Wars" for the modern day audience.
Every character, a deep background.
a story very well written,
concepts never shown in film before,
CGI that is flawless,
it's hard to make a movie over 3 hours where every bit feels like you'll miss something important if you go for a bathroom break without pausing.
If any of this sounds like your cup of tea, do yourself a favor and set aside 7 hours of your life, but really, " set - the - time - aside ", as I promise you,
It's worth it.
