What do you think it would’ve been like if you felt safe around your mom as a child? Chances are, you may struggle with emotional regulation, perfectionism, or even people pleasing tendencies.

I’ll be doing a amazing workshop with Amy L. Fiedler, to explore how invalidation as children can affect our emotional regulation. In this workshop, we will touch on in validation, trauma, and real life skills to have better communication, regular emotions and live the life that you want to live. !!

link is in bio and video will be provided for anyone that cannot attend the live session!

Regulation doesn’t mean, pushing the emotion away.

It means staying present and connected through emotional intensity - not avoiding it, and not trying to control it.

The goal isn’t to ā€œget over itā€ fast.
It’s to stay with yourself in it.
To move through, not around it.

That’s how safety gets rebuilt.
Not by shutting an emotion down - but by proving to your body, it can handle feeling.

If you’re learning how to do this and want more support and tools, I’m co-hosting an Emotional Regulation Workshop with Keresse Thompson, LCSW on May 28th. Details and sign up at the link in bio

When your reality is invalidated, especially by a parent saying things like ā€œThat never happenedā€ it can deeply affect your core beliefs about yourself and the world.
ā €
Over time, this kind of traumatic invalidation can impact how you show up in relationships, your ability to trust yourself, and how you relate to your own emotions. You may find yourself asking:

Who am I? Can I trust how I feel? Why do I react this way?

Happy Mother's Day especially to the mothers who broke generational cycles!

We’re often so hard on ourselves, by having unrealistic expectations, impossible timelines, and perfectionistic tendencies.

So we have a difficult time acknowledging all the incredible, magical progress we make daily, in the simplest, most meaningful ways.

Tuck yourself into bed tonight and before falling asleep, reflect on all the beautiful ways you have made your life and the lives of your family, friends, and the strangers you meet along the way, more joyful and rewarding.

Remember this has been a challenging time for everyone, in varying degrees, so Be proud of yourself for being here today.šŸ’š

Why do you some parents skip the apology and just start being nice again? It’s a cycle that avoids, but does not heal, it lacks accountability and doesn’t change the dynamic of the relationship. It teaches us that love doesn’t come with repair..

Accountability isn’t meant to break you , it’s meant to build you.

When they feel attacked by feedback, it’s often because a part of them knows it touches a real wound.

It’s not weakness to feel defensive. It’s human.
But growth happens when you recognize defensiveness… and choose reflection instead.

Healing starts when you stop explaining your intentions and start understanding your impact.

Hard truth:

If you or they want better relationships, deeper self-love, and real peace… you have to get comfortable owning your behavior.

You can’t heal what you won’t admit.
