Devotional: Though It Tarry, Wait for It
📖 Scripture: “For the vision is yet for an appointed time; but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” — Habakkuk 2:3 (KJV)
Sometimes God gives us a glimpse of a promise long before we ever see it unfold. We carry it in our hearts, nurture it in prayer, and hold on tight when everything around us looks opposite of what He said. And that’s where the tension of faith begins — the space between what He said and what we see.
Habakkuk understood this tension. He lived in a time when wickedness seemed to win, justice was delayed, and God appeared silent. But God responded, “Write the vision… though it tarry, wait for it.” In other words: The promise may look delayed, but My timing is divine.
What feels like “nothing happening” is often God building everything quietly. Waiting doesn’t mean denial — it means development. You may not see movement, but Heaven is setting the stage.
✨The Appointed Time
“Appointed time” means fixed, ordained, sealed by God. There’s a day already written in eternity when your promise will come to pass — not one second early or late.
When a seed is planted, it seems buried, but in truth, it’s becoming. So are you.
If you rush the process, you forfeit the maturity that prepares you to handle what you prayed for. God isn’t just preparing the promise for you — He’s preparing you for the promise.
🔥 Encouragement
Don’t mistake silence for absence. Don’t confuse delay with denial. Heaven is never late; it’s just thorough.
When your faith wavers, speak this truth:
“It will surely come.”
That job, that healing, that breakthrough, that ministry assignment — whatever God promised — will speak at its appointed time.
Until then, keep walking faithfully, worshipping freely, and waiting expectantly. Because when it comes, nothing and no one will be able to stop it.
🕊️ Prayer
Father,
Teach me to trust Your timing even when my heart grows weary. Strengthen me to wait without complaining and believe without seeing. Remind me that You are never late — You are intentional. I surrender the timeline to You, and I rest in the assurance that what You’ve spoken will surely come to pass.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
đź’¬ Faith Declaration
“I may be waiting, but I’m not wasting away.
My delay is divine.
My promise is still on schedule.
And when it comes, it will come suddenly — because He is God, and He is good.”
