The ocean needs us now more than ever. 🥺
Our blue planet is in crisis…
🌊The ocean generates about 50% of the oxygen we breathe, absorbs around 30% of our carbon dioxide emissions, and captures about 90% of the excess heat trapped by greenhouse gases. It is literally holding the climate together for us.
🌊Every year, an estimated 19–23 million tonnes of plastic leak into rivers, lakes, and seas, choking wildlife and breaking down into microplastics that end up in our food chain.
🌊Since 2009, we’ve already lost around 14% of the world’s corals, and from 2023 to 2025, over 80% of coral reefs have been hit by the worst global bleaching event ever recorded.
🌊More than 1,500 marine animals and plants assessed by scientists are threatened with extinction, with climate change affecting at least 41% of those species.
These numbers are not just statistics. They are a warning. And the children growing up today, our future leaders, will inherit the results of what we choose to do right now.
Through our programs, we…
📚Use stories like “Mermaid Elle: Saving the Seas” to bring ocean literacy into classrooms and homes.
📓Provide free lesson plans and creative conservation activities for educators that turn complex science into kid-friendly, action-based learning.
🏝️Equip families and schools with Beach Cleanup Kits, empowering kids to take real-world action in their own communities.
🔱Celebrate youth as Ocean Heroes, showing them that their voices and choices matter for our planet’s future.
This Giving Tuesday, we’re asking you to stand with us. Your donation to Saving the Seas helps us put more books into children’s hands, bring more ocean education into schools, and create more opportunities for kids to protect the ocean they will inherit.
If you believe every child deserves a healthy planet and the knowledge to care for it, please consider supporting our Giving Tuesday fundraiser.
