There's a specific frustration that diorama builders know well.
You finish the model. You're ready to photograph it. Then you spend twenty minutes trying to find a background that doesn't ruin the shot, and you settle for something fine. Not great. Fine.
The model is the best thing in the photo. The background is just not actively bad.
That gap between "not bad" and "actually right" is where a lot of photos live.
What do you use as a background when you're shooting?
