Tropical Storm formed in the central , but is fighting dry air and is expected to encounter intense wind shear by the time it reaches the Leeward Islands. Models agree that this system will fall apart quickly, maybe even by Saturday. No threat to Florida.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for South Georgia and North Central Florida for strong wind gusts with any storms this evening.

Vast disagreement in the models! There is a highlighted area nearby that we will be monitoring this weekend for potential development, but the GFS shows absolutely nothing, while the Euro spins up a weak tropical disturbance.

Given the disagreement and where a low may develop, we’re not too concerned about what may unfold.

This system will fight some shear, a little bit of dust aloft, and will be close to land, all of which should keep it in check.

Regardless of development this weekend, needed rainfall is on the way.
The Euro is on the high end of totals compared with typical summertime totals coming from the GFS. Stay tuned for updates!

Our first named storm of the hurricane season is still fighting high wind shear and dry air, and actually seems like it's on land and not over the Gulf. Although it probably shouldn't have been named, it'll weaken rapidly and lose the name tonight. The biggest threat from Arthur will be flooding rainfall from eastern Texas to northern Georgia. -BK

We have to wait a little longer for sunrise following the time change, happening today at 7:41am. More daylight in the evenings now has our sunset around 7:30pm!

The first few showers and storms of the day are developing across inland Flagler and Putnam counties. Expect more showers and storms pushing towards the west coast as the evening goes on.
