Potential Tropical Cyclone Sixteen will become well off our east later today, eventually pushing into eastern North Carolina by Saturday. For us, coastal conditions may be a bit rough, but we're not expecting direct impacts. -BK
Gatorland said the female alligator might have been hurt after a fight with another gator or by a boat propeller.

Our newest depression has developed in the central and will become either tonight or tomorrow. Conditions are favorable for future strengthening with this system aimed toward . No models show this coming toward . -flwx -BK
The Tornado Watch has been extended to include all Central FL counties until 3:00 p.m. Conditions will be favorable for isolated, brief tornadoes within any of the bands lifting through associated with Idalia.
Tuesday AM update: is now a Category 1 hurricane with further strengthening expected today. A track toward the Big Bend still puts Central Florida on the right side of the storm where gusty squalls may contain downpours and isolated tornadoes. Stay with Spectrum News 13!
5 a.m. Monday update: Idalia is projected to undergo rapid strengthening to bring it to a Category 3 storm in the eastern Gulf of Mexico. Impacts will be greatest west of I-75 but gusty squalls will affect Central Florida later Tuesday into Wednesday.

TROPICS 🌀 Saturday A.M. August 26
Good Saturday morning! ☀️ Still a HIGH ❗️chance for development later this weekend or on Monday for the disturbance in the Caribbean. It is showing a flare up of thunderstorms this morning near the Yucatán Peninsula and Cuba.
It will likely develop a defined center and become a tropical depression or tropical storm on Sunday or Monday. Once this happens forecast models will have a much better handle on the potential track and impacts.
As of 6 A.M. Saturday morning, the American model has a slightly stronger storm heading toward the Panhandle by mid-week. This track would extremely limit any potential impacts for
The European model has a weaker storm that would move closer to the Gulf Coast of Florida and it would bring higher rain chance, stronger winds and a potential risk for some tornadoes to Central Florida Tuesday into Wednesday.

Both the American and European model now develop the tropical disturbance.
The American is forecasting stronger and takes it farther west into the Panhandle. The Euro keeps it weaker and brings it farther east into the Big Bend area.
Regardless of development, tropical moisture will bring rain along with breezy to windy conditions to next Tuesday and Wednesday.

The HIGH 🔴 chance for development continues for the Caribbean/Gulf.
Below is a snapshot from the Euro model. It is showing a decent probability for a Tropical Storm to impact parts of Florida next Tuesday/Wednesday.
Right now, there are not many indications of a hurricane developing. Meanwhile, the flip side is the American model continues to suggest NOTHING will organize other than higher rain chances for by the middle of next week.
Continue to stay advised and check your hurricane supplies in case a storm threatens next week or later this season. There is no need to panic, but stay informed in the coming days.

Colorado State University updated their 2023 tropical forecast calling for an above average season & increasing the number of named storms by 3, by 2, major hurricanes by 1. Although is present, they feel warm sea surface temps will overcome other factors. -BK
Please be safe on the 4th in this heat! All counties are included in a ⚠ Heat Advisory⚠ until 7:00 p.m. Feels-like temperatures will climb to 105°-112° paired with highs in the mid- to upper 90s.
Tropical Depression Four has formed right behind Tropical Storm , and is expected to become later today. These storms will be no threat to Florida. -BK
Preliminary survey results confirm an EF-1 tornado near South Patrick Shores around 5:20pm yesterday. Winds are estimated between 90-100 mph. The official report will be released soon.

Another round of storms are developing on this Thursday afternoon. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 10 p.m. for most of east central Florida. The exception being for Sumter county. Hail, high wind and an isolated tornado are possible with the strong-severe storms.
A confirmed EF0 touched down in southern County Sunday night, damaging several homes in the River Grove Community. Note the greens and reds where was spinning. -BK
