Are you a licensed teacher? You can apply in the USA through the J1 Exchange Program.
It is valid for 5 years. You can bring dependents (spouse and children only). Your spouse can work as well as your children ages 16 and above while they are in the US.
Here are the steps:
1. Prepare your documents:
Resume, Cover letter, TOR, Certificate of Employment, PRC ID, NBI. Save them all in PDF file.
2. Google school districts in the US. For example: Arizona School Districts
3. Choose a district then go to the districtโs website. In the website, there is an application portal there where you can apply directly. You can also check the salary by looking for the salary schedule.
4. Complete the online application and email the principals to be noticed. Do not email any principals unless you have applied and completed the online application.
5. Wait for an interview by checking your emails. Keep applying while you wait. Waiting is part of the process.
6. Once you have a schedule interview, study and be prepared. Ace the interview.
7. Once hired, then do the visa process. Make sure to get an FCE. It is a credential evaluation to determine if your PH degree is equivalent to US degree.
8. Contact a program sponsors.
Just google: Designated J1 program sponsors
9. Submit requirements and receive the DS2019 from the program sponsor you are working with.
10. Go to US embassy for the visa interview. Bring your DS2019, Passport, 2x2 pictures. No home ties needed. J1 Visa interview is easier to pass than a tourist visa interview.
11. Once approved, congratulations! ๐บ๐ธ
12. Start with your resignation process. If you are from Deped, then it will take 1-2 months. Submit all the required documents. You will need the Central Office to send the CFO an email that you are officially resigned from Deped. Teachers from private schools or universities only need the accomplished school clearance and certificate of employment.
13. Register to the website of CFO or the Commission on Filipino Overseas for an online seminar about the J1 Exchange program.
14. Book a plane ticket. Tickets vary in prices. It is cheaper if you go through Asia then US (connecting flights) compared to direct flights. Inform your school principal so they can arrange someone to pick you up as well as your accomodations. They are very helpful. You only need to ask.
15. Congratulations and welcome to USA ๐บ๐ธ
