When I was invited to join the Board of Directors at Zebra Youth in 2019, I had no real idea what it meant to commit to the role. Someone I respected put my name forward, and before I knew it I was sitting in meetings, seconding motions, and being “all in favor” of the things I believed would move the mission forward.
•
Six years later, I understand the work that was mine to do. My contributions were rooted in presence, listening, perspective, and discernment. Over time, I stopped asking whether that was enough — and started trusting that it was exactly what I was there to offer.
•
I’m proud to have helped move the conversation toward honoring different forms of leadership. When we value presence, thoughtfulness, and lived perspective alongside every other contribution, we create space for a more diverse board — one that better reflects our community.
•
Zebra has grown. I’ve grown. And I leave this chapter clearer about who I am and how I lead.

Grateful for the stretch, the lessons, and the opportunity to walk alongside an organization doing such vital work. 🙏🦓❤️
