Welcome back and Happy 2025 Pumas! How was your first week of Spring term?

Valencia Voice kicks off on Wednesday, January 15 at 9 a.m., East Campus Bldg 1 Rm 377 and on Zoom. We will be discussing Officer roles, scholarships, MegaCon coverage, school programs, events and more. Club reps are welcome to join as well. Puma Pride!

Things will get spooky at Valencia College’s East Campus as the symphonic and jazz bands prepare to host the 13th annual Halloween concert.

The concert will take place outside of Building 4 and 5 on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 11:30 a.m. “We are going to have some fun and we’re going to play really good music,” Director Jon Territo said.

📸: Valencia Voice. This weekend, Valencia College RSO Active Minds tabled at Veterans 1st Coalition Partners Resource Event at McCormick Research Institute in St. Cloud, Fla. President Xenia Ortiz, Vice President William Yao, and other students helped raise awareness of veterans’ su***de. Yao says, “Veteran affairs are incredibly important. This event brings some of the greatest resources for veterans. It’s incredible that so many people have come together to help this cause. Active Minds looks to support and push the message of de-stigmatizing the negative cloud around mental health awareness and care.”

Congratulations to our award-winning Valencia Voice and student Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Gottschalk. The FCSAA, Florida College Systems Activities Association, recognized Editor Jeremy Gottschalk as February 2024 Student of the Month for his drive and determination.

According to his nomination by Valencia Voice Advisor Rebecca Newman, “Jeremy has managed 48 student volunteers during his time as Valencia Voice Editor-in-Chief. He excels in supporting our five interns, four executive committee members as well as final article postings for the digital publication. During his semesters with the Voice, Jeremy introduced the Valencia Voice College News Radio show through Valencia’s School of Arts and Entertainment as well as video production through the college’s Digital Media Lab equipment. Jeremy is a disabled military veteran and former cyber security analyst. His expertise and experience has contributed greatly to the success of our organization as well as inspired those students pursuing journalism or digital media as an education pathway.”

James started Valencia College in 2006 before suspending that goal to becoming a working teen father. His goals now include supporting his family and using his education to “reach back and pull up” the next generation of culinary artists.
