December 18, 2025: USNAVI BIRTHDAY POST!🎂🎈
(Swipe to the end for the very first picture I saw of Usnavi!!!!🤭)
This is an appreciation post for the dog who started it all; the myth, the man, the legend: Usnavi, aka Navi, who turns 4 years old today!
It feels pretty crazy looking back at where we were when we met: just the two of us in a dorm room. Back then, I was in a very low place in my life, but I can say with confidence that finding him, meeting him, was the turning point and the catalyst that led to where I am today: happier than ever, living independently, and building a life that I love.
I truly believe that if there are angels on this earth, surely Usnavi must be one of them, for you will never meet a purer soul. He may not have become the service dog I envisioned him to be when we first met (his health struggles did not allow for that, even if his epilepsy is entirely managed) but he has gone on to do so much more than that, bringing comfort not only to myself but to countless others during hard times. Everyone who has met him can agree that he is something special—though when vets say this, they usually are referring to his lack of braincells. I always joke that whatever he may lack in brainpower he allocated to his heart, for even if he is not the sharpest tool in the shed, he does always seem to know when someone needs his help. He is also always enthusiastic about trying new things, even if he has a hard time putting the pieces together for a new trick or game, he is the definition of “just happy to be here”. Truly, the embodiment of “no thoughts, just vibes”. I wouldn’t want him any other way.
Cheers to 4 years of Usnavi, being the best big brother and the bestest boy. I pray for us to be lucky enough to have many, many, many more years to share adventures together. HAPPY BDAY NAVI!!!!!!
