You have heard them before- epithets of survival motivation.

"This too shall pass."

"Everything will be all right."

"Nothing is impossible."

"Keep your head up."

"It will work out the way it is supposed to work out."

But what happens when you notice these motivating words are not working to inspire or influence change? What if you start to notice a family member that seems down and their behavior is changing and becoming destructive? What if you are consoling a friend, but their responses are negative and their outlook on life seems bleak?

What do you do? Where do you go?

The COVID pandemic has proven to be a difficult time for a lot of people and has placed a lot of added stress on individuals and families. Pre COVID normalcy is no longer a thing and we are trying to conform to the new normal. Things may seem hopeless and you may feel like you do not matter, but you do.

We just wanted to let you know that IT IS OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY and if you are experiencing or know someone that maybe experiencing depression, or increased anxiety, validate them and let them know IT IS OKAY NOT TO BE OKAY!!

You have given charge of your company's Christmas Party. Super excited, the ideas start to flood your mind for the evening's events. With a substantial budget to cover food, beverage, event space, and extras you set out on your quest of planning.

Six months later, the day has finally arrived, and you are happy with joy and filled with a sense of relief.

As you enter the venue, it is a winter wonderland. Your coworkers start coming one by one, and the DJ is turning the top 40’s. To save money on the budget, you ask your best friend, who has a fancy camera, but no experience to take pictures.

As the night continues, you are standing with a group of your coworkers by the food table, and they are complimenting you on a job well done. You begin to raise your glass for a celebratory toast, and you hear a crash, and the music suddenly stops.
As you turn around slowly, fearful for what you might see behind you, you notice the DJ booth is knocked over, and your friend, with the camera around her neck, is three sheets to the wind-faded.

'I am alright!' they say as they struggle to get up.

Embarrassed, you quickly walk over to the DJ and ask if it is fixable. They bow their head in anger and disgust and tell you no. The party is over.

Not wanting their evening to end, your guests decide to take the party to a local bar.

As you say goodbye to the few straggling coworkers, you look at your friend, who is now sleeping on top of the pool table and regret not budgeting for a professional photographer for the Christmas Party.

Understandable, hiring a professional photographer can be pricey, but the experience and knowledge they bring to any event is priceless.

You are texting your best friend about the new relationship drama in your life. The conversation is heavily weighted by you as you tell your story. Your friend gives you agreeable feedback, such as “Are You Serious? “Wow!” and “What Did You Do Next?” an indication to you that they are paying attention-so you think.

After you tell your story, you text “what should I do?’ Forty-five seconds later, you receive a ‘Read’ receipt and the typing bubbles appear but stop.

Your supervisor calls you in for a meeting to discuss the project's deadline. After an hour of intimidating criticism and restructuring, you cannot wait to check your phone for your friend’s response, a relief from the journey that waits for you. You press the home key, the screen lights up and there are no notifications. Just to make sure you go into the message between you and your friend and sure enough, there is no reply. You have been left on ‘READ.’

I’m sure we have all been there before in some way or another. Being left on ‘Read’ evokes many feelings, the strongest being ignored.
No one enjoys being ignored or felt as if they are not being heard. The same holds true for the audience that you are trying to attract with your service or product.
