When we were still Florida Technological University, students would drive up a dirt entrance road, which led directly to the library. Upon arrival, they would have to call university staff to frighten away the slew of rattlesnakes that loitered in the sand parking lot.

To serve the growing collegiate population, UCF students established the Central Florida Future in 1968, just five years after the university was founded.

When the University of Central Florida first opened its doors to students on Oct. 7, 1968 — five years after it was established in 1963 — the Central Florida Future was there to greet them.

On Friday afternoon, former and current Central Florida Future staffers gathered for a final photoshoot in front of the Reflecting Pond.

Former and current Central Florida Future staff members gathered at the UCF Reflecting Pond for a final photo on July 29, 2016. The photoshoot was organized a week after the CFF announced that it would print its last issue on Aug. 4.

To ensure that SGA retains the power to allocate funds from its $18.6 million budget, SGA President Christopher Clemente modified a regulation proposed by the UCF Board of Trustees. The board unanimously approved the amendment.

Recent uncertainty concerning the power and role of UCF’s Student Government Association was quashed at the UCF Board of Trustees meeting Thursday.
