What’s it actually like staying at Cabana Bay for THREE weeks? 🌴 (Heaven ..😆 )
We’ve stayed at Cabana Bay at least four times now, and apart from one split stay where we spent some time at All-Star Sports, *which we absolutely loved!* we’ve pretty much always made Cabana Bay our home for the full three weeks.
The three week thing actually happened by accident.
Years ago we were staying for two weeks and ended up getting stuck in Orlando because of a hurricane. Our trip stretched to about two and a half weeks and we realised that the extra few days really hadn’t cost us much more.
That got us thinking... if we can do two and a half weeks, surely we can squeeze out three? 😂
And we’ve never really looked back.
I loved getting to the end of our first week and realising we still had an entire two-week holiday ahead of us. 😍
CB works particularly well for a longer stay because the place is absolutely massive.
The diner alone is huge, with hundreds of seats and loads of different options. Breakfast, lunch, different types of food, salads, frozen yoghurt, drinks... you’re definitely not stuck eating the exact same thing every day.
We normally get the refillable cups as well. From memory they were somewhere around $25-$30 for the length of our stay, and ours covered the full three weeks.
Unlimited soft drinks and, importantly, ICEES drinks too. 😂
For three weeks, we found that brilliant value.
Just remember those resort cups are for Cabana Bay. You can’t take them into Universal and use them for the park refill machines, as the parks have their own cup system. Well technically you can bring them in for water which we have done on an evening
Our favourite part of Cabana Bay is actually where we stay.
You’ve got the towers and the more traditional internal hotel blocks on one side, but over the other side you have the motel-style family suites with the exterior doors.
That’s where we always choose.
I know some people prefer walking out into an air-conditioned hotel corridor, but I love opening the door first thing in the morning and immediately getting hit with that Florida heat and sunshine. ☀️😂
It just feels like Florida to me.
And there’s SO much around the resort.
There are two main pool areas, including the lazy river beside the diner and another pool over at the motel style side with a waterslide.
You’ve got table tennis, games, sandy areas, loads of places to sit and that whole retro 60s/70s Cabana Bay vibe everywhere you look. Oh and movies by the pools every night. Weather dependant of course.
Then inside there’s a bowling alley where you can also grab food and drinks, a full gym and a massive arcade upstairs. Recently this has gotten even bigger.
There’s also a full Universal store, so you can pick up souvenirs, Universal merchandise and plenty of the little bits and pieces you might need during your stay without having to leave the resort.
Even reception usually has something going on.
We’ve seen Universal characters appearing there and there always seems to be some sort of entertainment or activity happening around the place.
And the staff?
We genuinely can’t say enough good things about them.
They’ve always been brilliant with us, but particularly during the hurricane when we unexpectedly had to extend our stay. They really couldn’t do enough for us, and experiences like that are a big part of why we’ve kept going back.
Is Cabana Bay the fanciest hotel in Orlando? No.
But for us, that’s not really what we want from it.
It’s big, relaxed, fun, has loads to do, works brilliantly for a long stay and after spending three weeks there several times, it genuinely starts to feel a little bit like our Orlando home. ❤️
