KDIO Radio KDIO strives to be a constant source for local news and information and stands as the only radio station in Big Stone County.

KDIO began broadcasting on July 23, 1956 from "The Little Red Schoolhouse," which still stands north of Ortonville's Golf Course but it has been renovated to a personal residence. The founders of KDIO were Don Egert, Cy McCormick, Dick Schultz, and Jim Kaercher. Currently, the station is owned by Prairie Winds Broadcasting out of Aberdeen SD. e from 6am to 1pm Monday through Friday and subscribes to the ABC radio network for national news on the hour every hour. Our broadcast format is classic country music/talk/news/local sports and information of local interest to our listeners.

This Friday, June 19th, we have room on our weekly Fishing Friday cruise. 10 AM is the departure time. So far the weather looks like it might hold off both rain and wind at that hour and we'll be able to get out and get some fish. Your crew will have everything you need - bait, tackle, life jackets. If you require a fishing license then you must have that with you. (Be aware the DNR no longer sells licenses through vendors. It's all done by phone and a credit card and you instantly get a license number. We can help you do it.)
