People see you have a business and think you’re swimming in money. Let me clear that up. So far this year Splintered Board has made me a grand total of zero dollars.
Now before you think I’m crying poor, here’s why. Every single dime has gone right back into the shop. Bigger tools, better gear, and stuff that makes more sawdust than sense.
For example… I built a bar, sold it for two grand. Instead of pocketing it, I went and bought a trailer for three. That’s how my brain works. Sell something, spend more than I made, and call it progress.
Sure a little has slipped away into ci**rs and a few rounds of golf. I’m human. But mostly it’s gone into making this little side hustle grow.
So no, it’s not sunshine and easy money over here. It’s a lot of work, a lot of sawdust, and a lot of me laughing at myself while I wonder if the next “investment” is really just another excuse to buy a new toy for the shop.
But hey, I’m having fun and that’s what matters.
Book of Sawdust 3:16
“For every board sold, there shall be a tool bought, and the shop shall never be full enough.”
