OSAGE -- Surf Ballroom favorites Denny and The DC Drifters and Dave “Swanee” Swanson of The Whitesidewalls will both perform at 2 p.m Sunday at Osage VFW Post 7920.
Denny and The DC Drifters have been entertaining since 1963. Denny Charnecki, the guitarist and lead vocalist, worked with stars including Chuck Berry, Fabian, Tommy Roe, the Coasters, Herman Hermits, the Shirelles, Chubby Checker, and more. The group received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006 from the Midwest Country Rock 'n' Roll Music Hall of Fame. In 2023 Charnecki was inducted into The Iowa Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame.
Swanee has been a band leader since 1976 and has worked with national recording artists such as Bobby V, Roy Orbison, Johnny Rivers, Del Shannon, Ricky Nelson and many more. He was inducted into the Minnesota Music Hall of Fame, the Midwest Music Hall of Fame and others.
