Showers and thunderstorms move into far southern Iowa this afternoon, expanding towards central and eastern Iowa through the overnight and Saturday morning. The area of heaviest rain has shifted south, however narrow pockets of 4-6" of rain are possible.

Two rounds of storms are expected today and tomorrow; the first being late this afternoon into the evening and the second Friday night in Saturday morning. Both of these may produce heavy rainfall, with some areas being impacted by both rounds. Areas that see heavy rainfall both nights will be more susceptible to flooding or flash flooding. In addition to the heavy rain, some storms this evening could also produce strong winds along the IA/MO border.
