We are so excited to share this high school senior project!

Here's what Braelyn shared about her Gift of Grace Project:

"I’m excited to share my senior project, The Gift of Grace Project. I wanted to post in this group to help spread the word as this project is really close to my heart. I’m creating care packages for new moms who may be feeling overwhelmed or in need of comfort as they welcome their little ones into the world. My hope is to remind them that they are loved, supported, and surrounded by God’s grace — even in the hardest moments.

I’m collecting items like postnatal vitamins, Tucks pads, robes, peri bottles, snacks, self-care items, and notes of encouragement. All items must be new. Donations can be dropped off in the labeled bins, anywhere between Nov. 30th through Dec. 21st at the following churches:

• St. Nicholas (Tea)

• St. Christina (Parker)

• St. Magdalen (Lennox)

• St. Katharine Drexel (Sioux Falls)

These care packages will be delivered to Sioux Falls organizations that support new mothers.

Thank you so much for taking a moment to read about my project. I truly appreciate any prayers, support, or donations as this gets started Sunday. 💗"

You can decline the GBS swab, or you can choose to do it- but do it yourself, if you would rather. You have options with this test!

I believe in you! 🤣 But seriously… it’s not hard.

Share this post with a friend who may have no clue this is an option!

The Group Beta Strep (GBS) test is usually performed around 36 weeks gestation. Most women are told that it is mandatory, and that their provider must administer it.

They are told to disrobe from the waist down, cover up with that crunchy paper drape, and scoot their butt to the end of the table. All this so that someone can wipe a swab on their butt and va**na, something they easily could have done themselves in the bathroom.

Most midwives will tell you that you have the option to swab yourself, most OBs will not. In fact, if you say you’d prefer to DIY it, they will often treat you as if you couldn’t possibly handle such a task.

What if you don’t do it right?! How will you *gasp* reach all the way back there?!

Please 🙄

You’re a grown woman, and I’m sure swabbing your own butt is on the looooong list of things you’re very capable of.

If you’d rather perform your own swab, just tell your provider that’s what you’ll be doing. You will simply take the swab to the bathroom, swab your stuff, and then put it back in the container for the lab to culture. Easy peasy.

Were you given the option to swab yourself for the GBS test?

Single services I offer that are not specific only to fertility/birth/postpartum clients:

✨️Breastmilk Soap✨️

This soap is created with gentle-on-skin goats milk soap base, your breastmilk, and customized with additives like honey, oats, vitamin E oil, jojoba oil, or essential oil scents, specific to what you want. 8oz of milk yields about 8 (2oz) soap bars. The pricing for this is not on my website- I charge $4 per bar or $30 for 8 bars.

✨️Umbilical Cord Keepsakes ✨️

These keepsakes are made with your baby's umbilical cord. They can be left "raw," typically a dark brown color after dehydration, or they can be painted in a color of your choosing.

✨️Placenta Print Keepsakes✨️

These prints can be made using paint, blood only, or food-safe dye if consumption of the placenta is your goal. They can include additions (like the flowers in the image below) or be left plain.

Each of these items requires something from you- your milk, umbilical cord, or placenta. Drop off/meet can be arranged based on what service you are wanting to use. If you are curious about how that process looks, specifically for umbilical cord or placenta keepsakes, please reach out and I can help walk you through it.

If you have interest in any of these services, you may contact me via messenger or my contact info included in my page.

There’s a point in every labor when support can hold space, but only you can do the work.
That moment tests you, but it also transforms you.

Birth preparation isn’t just about learning comfort measures or about how your body works. It’s also about learning yourself.
Knowing how you respond to intensity.
What helps you find calm.
How to breathe when everything in you wants to tense.

And it’s also about wisdom, knowing when your body or baby need something different.
Knowing when a transfer is the best choice.
And understanding that it’s never a failure, only a continuation of your strength in another setting.

You can’t skip that moment.
But you can be ready for it.

Friends and family in the U.S., please take this easy action on 2 federal bills TODAY to promote and support the midwifery model of care.

The first bill, Midwives for MOMS Act, supports midwifery education for ALL midwives. The second bill, BABIES Act, supports birth center care for people with Medicaid. A coalition of 5 national midwifery organizations backs these bills. The 3rd bill on the flyer is also important but currently in "wait and see" status. Thanks for your help!

The biggest question - but how will I know when it’s time to push my baby out?

This is most definitely a teaser to entice you to podcast ep. 168 the Ferguson reflex vs the fetal ejection reflex. If you don’t care about these birth reflexes than you don’t fully understand birth or how revolutionary these are to the pushing/birth stage and you won’t understand how to tell when it’s time to push your baby out.

The Ferguson reflex vs the foetus ejection reflex

1. The two are very different
2. Both are rooted in physiology
3. They can only be experienced together if birth physiology is intact - which is usually during undisturbed birth
4. The foetus ejection reflex could also be a fear response, but not solely, it has other manifestations
5. The Ferguson reflex is about the mechanism and physical experience of birth, the foetus ejection reflex is related to the birthing mind of the woman - her birthing consciousness
6. Both are designed to make birth quick and easy with not too much pushing
7. The Ferguson reflex initiates woman’s own instinctive birth efforts - a bodily messenger or guide to unequivocally tell women when it’s time to push
