Pleasantville Music Theatre Announces Virtual “Santa’s Reindeer Ranch” Musical
(Ossining, NY) Pleasantville Music Theatre, Inc. is launching an online production of the musical, “Santa’s Reindeer Ranch”, co-written by local music duo, Carla Lynne Hall and Jim Keyes. After being awarded a grant from Arts Westchester in 2019, PMT was set to mount the holiday production as a live musical. When the COVID-19 pandemic brought live performances to a halt, PMT arranged for Carla and Keyes to produce this fun online version of the musical.
Santa’s Reindeer Ranch tells the story of how kids on the “Naughty List” scheme their way to Santa’s North Pole in order to get back into Santa’s good graces. The online show will be available on Monday, December 14th at 12:00pm.
“We were so excited about producing Santa’s Reindeer Ranch,”says Carol Arrucci, PMT’s President. Upon first hearing the song “Santa’s Reindeer Ranch”, board member Ray Arrucci suggested they create a full blown musical version, based on the song. “When we realized that the pandemic would make a live show impossible, Jim and Carla stepped up to produce this musical story in their studio.” PMT hopes to produce a staged version of this musical next December.
Carla & Keyes, along with being working musicians, had other skills that made this possible. Jim Keyes is a multi-instrumentalist who handled the video and audio recording, and Carla Lynne Hall is a singer/songwriter with online marketing and project management skills. They welcomed the opportunity to bring their musical to life. “We originally wrote this musical for others to perform, “says Hall, “To revise the story, and perform all of the characters ourselves, has been a lot of fun.”
“Carla and I have been performing live on our ‘Carla & Keyes’ Facebook every day since the pandemic started, “says Keyes, “We were challenged to immediately transition our musical projects to the internet, and fortunately, we were ready. In one sense, it feels like we’ve been preparing for this moment.”
Thanks to the grant from Arts Westchester, Santa’s Reindeer Ranch will stream for free at SantasReindeerRanch.net.
