On Sat., the Panthers’ Kaleb Stupenhorst made history with a 42-yard field goal to win 10-7 against Lockport, giving Oswego a bid at the State title after 22 years.

OH sophomore Ammar Banire scored the only touchdown for Oswego, running a total of 63 yards with 11:10 left in the game, tying the game against Lockport with 7-7.

With tension rising, Stumpenhorst scored with one minute left in the 4th quarter, putting Oswego in the lead with 10-7 against Lockport.

The final play of the game resulted in Lockport attempting a 40-yard field goal. However, the Porters ultimately failed and resulted in Oswego moving on to the Class 8A state championship.

Bursts of excitement filled the room on Nov. 6 as OH students introduced the future freshmen to the choir program during the annual Big Cat Choral festival at the OH Barnes Performing Art Center.

“We had the most engagement [this year],” said OH senior Morgan Pawlisz. “Everyone was just super into it and just really excited to sing with each other.”

The choral festival involves eighth grade students from Traughber and Thompson Junior High to perform and fun activities with the OH students. “It was good,” OH sophomore Josselyn Russell said. “It was nice to hear [from] the middle schoolers and everything.” click the link in bio to read more!!

As climate change becomes more of an issue, artificial intelligence’s (AI) energy use slowly raises more problems, even if users are unaware.

The increase of climate change has been ongoing since the Industrial Revolution. NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information reported that 2024 was the warmest year since global records started in 1850. This indicates the amount of sunlight energy absorbed and the heat traveling back to space is out of balance, and the temperature either rises or falls.

In a national climate where the government leaders support masked ICE agents dragging down teachers in schools and out of cars on streets, one might imagine that the climate for civility and equality in schools would be equally as bleak. Turns out, that is in fact the opposite for the civility of Oswego High School students.

According to the 2025 OH Panorama student survey, which 81% of OH students completed, 71% of students responded that they “got along very well” or “got along extremely well” in “the past two weeks with students who are different” from them, which was up one percent point from fall of 2024. Way more people of different backgrounds, with different beliefs, are getting along.

Given the external challenges seen nationally, OH’s student-reported data reflects strong peer relationships and local positivity amid national strife. However, reinterpretations of Title VI by the current president and his administration may have a negative trickledown effect on this positivity, eventually reflected in the Panorama data. Starting her high school career, OH sophomore Alli Wiertel has gained national popularity due to her impressive golf accomplishments. With conference champs 1x and regional champs 2x, Wiertel has led her team to amazing results.

This season, she was the individual Southwest Prairie Conference (SPC) girls’ golf champion. At the conference tournament, she fired a 68, which secured her the win by 11 strokes. The top individual scored a 65 at the regional championship; at sectionals, she placed second.

Wiertel has practically been playing golf for her entire life. “My dad got me into golf,” said Wiertel. “I started when I was four years old and started my first tournaments when I was eight.”
