It's a bummer when there's not enough room to print all the photos we take. If you check out the Sentinel's story about the last village council meeting of the year, you'll see that Douglas Schroeder was honored for his 17 years working for the village, and was presented with a proclamation designating December 31-January 6, 2026 as Douglas Schroeder week in Ottawa. We have the photos and we wanted you to see them.

Also covered, a contentious discuss about water, sewer and annexation, what to do with a forfeited vehicle, a plan for revitalizing Ottawa's downtown, and a friendly passing of the torch between exiting council member Jake Schroeder and incoming council member Chance Fry.

Two years ago, Layla’s family from Ottawa, Ohio stayed with us during the holidays. This week, they returned — not as guests, but as givers. ❤️

Their family and community in Putnam County came together to donate three carts full of holiday gifts, along with a monetary donation, to support families currently staying at the House. With multiple relatives who have stayed here in the past, their generosity is a powerful reminder of how our RMHC family continues to pay it forward.

We are so grateful for families and communities who continue to support one another and help keep families close when it matters most. Thank you for turning gratitude into action this season. 🎄✨
