🎶 Fête de la Musique returns to downtown Ridgway this Sunday, June 29, and it’s one of our favorite ways to welcome summer.

From 4pm until sundown, the streets come alive with free performances by 20+ local and regional artists — all part of a walkable, family-friendly music celebration that’s pure joy. From mariachi to bluegrass, singer-songwriters to funk bands, there’s something for everyone.

This event always hits the sweet spot: great tunes, good people, and that warm Ridgway energy that makes summer here feel so special. 🌞🎵

June 23, 2025 – 7:00PM
Snowshed Fire Update: The Snowshed Fire is currently 50% contained, and both lanes of Hwy 550 (Red Mountain Pass) are fully open for travel. Fire crews are continuing to work in the area, and emergency vehicles are positioned along the highway in the area of mile marker 88 (near the snowshed). Please do not impede their critical work!
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but has been deemed “human caused” – meaning, not caused by lightning.
We will continue to provide updates as they are available. We thank everyone for their patience and support!

UPDATE: Hwy 550 / Red Mountain Pass remains closed this morning (between Forest Service Road 886 and Amphitheatre Road (5 miles south of Ouray) from Mile Point 87 to Mile Point 92.
Crews are continuing work on the fire near the snowshed and we will provide updates as they are available.

UPDATE: The fire on Hwy 550 / Red Mountain Pass near the snowshed remains at approximately 5 acres. The highway will remain closed tonight between the City of Ouray and Ironton Park. Multiple agencies, including Ouray and Ridgway Fire and US Forest Service, are working on this and we will continue to provide updates as they are available.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Due to the active fire near the snowshed area, Hwy 550 (Red Mountain Pass) is being CLOSED from CR-18 (Engineer Pass/Mineral Creek) to the snow gate at Ironton Park. All travelers are encouraged to take alternate routes, such as Hwy 62 and Hwy 145, if traveling south or northbound.
