In your copy of The Express on page 27, we invite you to participate in a school-wide pie decorating competition.

For the Decorate Your Pie Interactive, first, you must draw or color the pie in your copy of the November Issue of The Express.

Send us a completed picture of your pie using the link to a Google Form in our bio by Nov. 17. This link was also a part of a QR code on the paper copy, but it may not work with your issue due to printing complications. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We will announce the winner on our Instagram Story at the end of the school day Nov. 18, and we will also message the winner to come receive their prize of a $15 gift card to Swig.

The winner will be decided based on a vote amongst the newspaper editors. Participants must be current Northwest students. Only one submission is allowed per person. If you missed a copy of The Express, extras are available outside of room 902.

There are many student-athletes competing at the varsity level and dealing with the pressures and passions that accompany their sport. On and off the field and court, dancer Dylan Barnes, football player Baron Marshall, and tennis player Ella Wang give some insight into the grind it takes to play at the varsity level.
While each of these student athletes has their own challenges, they collectively said their packed schedules can be tricky at times. Balancing their personal lives, practices, and school work can be tricky and each of these students finds a different way to handle these schedules.
Barnes said he experiences stress because of his success and reputation in the dance community.
“That’s the most difficult part, the pressure of feeling like I have to hit every single trick I do and every single move, because I know people will be watching,” Dylan Barnes said.
