Breaking News: The City of Owatonna is proposing an alternative site for a new police station.

Following evaluation of potential sites for the new police facility, city staff will be recommending the target site by the the vacant lot on North Street next to Cashwise, formerly a Cemstone property and would take the proposed police station off of the West Hills Campus.

Information provided to KOWZ Media News notes this decision was made possible because of the aquisition of additional pieces of land that will allow the building to be constructed outside of the flood plain.

The City of Owatonna has also provided an ariel photo of the new proposed location.

Tune in at 7:45 a.m., with replays throughout the day, to hear accounts from that day along with some things we have learned since then from those with military, law and enforcement and education backgrounds.
